GEOL 390 - Special Field Studies

GEOL 390 is an extended field trip to an area of outstanding geological significance. Past destinations include Hawaii (2003, 2007, and 2011), the Grand Canyon (2005), the Canadian Rockies (2006 and 2014), San Francisco (2010), Belize (2013), Yellowstone (2015, 2018), Eastern Washington (2016), Iceland (2017).

These trips are usually about ten days in length, allowing students to be totally immersed in their geological surroundings.

Students are required to participate in pre-trip discussions and do some independent research on an approved topic related to the field trip. While in the field, students collect data that will be integrated into an assignment upon return to campus. This course may be repeated for credit.
