Course Description (Program Calendar)
This course is the first in a series designed to give senior students the opportunity to increase practical experience, industry relevant knowledge and enact team leadership roles used for a modern work environment. Some Applied Techniques sub-topics include invertebrate, micro-algae and finfish culture, salmon spawning enumeration, environmental monitoring, aquatic animal health or aquaculture alternatives. Course Summary
This course provides an experiential learning environment focused on key skills and techniques used in industry. Here students will learn industry relevant practices by working alongside Instructors in realistic environments. Students will be asked to gradually demonstrate mastery of techniques and leadership roles. Each student can expect to spend several hours per week on their applied techniques course which may also include daily animal husbandry, virtual communication and researching aspects of the chosen topic.

- Time: Wednesday 1:30 to 4:30 pm. No classes will be held on Statutory holidays or during VIU study days
